(A Poem From The Path: Like A Dewdrop Trembling)

By: William W. Simpson

Like A Dewdrop Trembling -

Like a dewdrop trembling on the tip of a verdant leaf,
I tremble for Thee.

The turmoil of my life –
All the distorting tremors of emotion,
The rampant devastation of bad habits,
The hollow emptiness of unfilled desires,
Cleave into shards, the foundation of my best intentions.

In the end,
I can do nothing – I am powerless.
Except for the one intimate act
Of entering into the temple of Your presence.

Then, the still touch of Your love,
Washes away without my knowing,
All the guilt, sorrow and hopelessness of the moment before.

Softly, I rest in the solace of Your light,
And, I am alive again.
Renewed again.
At peace again.

It is only to You, that I can cling,
Subtle, indescribable, appearing and disappearing –
Outside my control.
Yet, sweetly present in my surrender and vulnerability.

Like a dewdrop trembling on the tip of a verdant leaf,
I tremble for Thee.
