An oven is one of the most important kitchen appliances you can buy and so shouldn’t be taken lightly. You spend a lot of time cooking and so the last thing you want is for an oven to be continually breaking or that it wasted your time by not heating food quicker enough. What The Overall Need Of course this is simple to be able to cook. However think about how many people you cook for and what sort of things you cook. If you cook for a big family and tend to cook a lot of roast dinners the chances are high that you will need a larger oven to handle this, You can choose ovens with one cook-top or several burners and some ovens come with sizeable numbers of rotisserie and grillers. So before you set off on your oven hunt have this in mind. Electric or Gas? If you have the luxury of being able to choose between the two then what one do you go for? This really depends on two things: cooking preferences and energy saving. Most people prefer to have electric ovens but with gas hobbs as it allows for more control and for this reason many manufacturers offer ovens with this capability. If it is energy saving you are after then gas is sometimes considered a better option. On average electricity emits twice as much carbon as gas however most electricity companies now offer greener energy meaning that there is no much of a difference between the two. Controls When looking for an oven it is always recommended to take a quick look at the controls. There are many models available that make it extremely difficult to understand what the various functions are. If an oven you have mind is not intuitive enough then this may be a problem especially if you allow others to use you oven. Kitchen Size Of course the most obvious consideration is choosing an oven that actually fits in your kitchen. If you have a modular kitchen, wall mounted ovens with cook-tops on top of each other works beautifully. If you have standard kitchen of ample size, placing your oven in the middle will let more space. Just ensure that warming rack is close enough to console space. Standard ovens come with enough storage space too. Ovens these days also have controls on either the front or the back. Having controls in front of your oven lends a classic look; however if you have kids you might want to opt for controls at the back. Price Range When it comes to ovens you generally get what you pay for so if you see a much cheaper model that is not part of any sale then they are usually not as good as more expensive types. However that it not to say that you should always go for the pricier models, you should instead read reviews to get an idea of how good the oven is and always ask a member of staff to talk you through any particular models. Lastly make sure your oven comes with a warranty and if you can get it extended as ovens are a long lasting product.
