Anger mis-management has been in the news lately. There have been a few celebrities arrested, or otherwise reprimanded, for their out of control behavior in public places. Actually, according to George Anderson, Director of Anderson and Anderson, there has been an increase in the number of referrals to Anger Management courses all over the world since 9/11. That is not surprising. Anger is a learned behavior, and it can be unlearned. There are many coping methods that can be used instead of anger, they just need to be taught properly to the appropriate students. Anger is an emotion and like all emotions, it is neither good or bad. It just is. But, like all emotions, anger needs to be expressed. The problem with it's expression, at times, is the inappropriateness of it. Some of us hold anger inside too long and when we do go to express it, it comes out sideways and misdirected. Some of us explode at the drop of a pin and wreak havoc on our loved ones and sometimes even our coworkers. This type of expression is not okay. We all need to learn to manage anger in an appropriate manner. It's not any one else's responsibility but our own to keep that anger in check. http://www.angermentors.net
