Breakinbg Orbit

By: earl mann

We constantly speak of the importance of having a driving reason which propels us towards our goals, driving us towards success. We try to find a reason that’s as big as we can make it - bigger than we are! This is one of the true keys to doing the things necessary to be successful regardless of what your definition of success is, or the steps required to get there. Finding a big reason - something that compels you and drives you - is absolutely critical. Let’s talk about that concept a little. We’re going to change the metaphor slightly. Perhaps it will help you understand the importance of having a big reason. Let’s change the metaphor to that of a rocket.

Most people understand the concept of a rocket. We have all grown up watching the big event of rockets blasting off. Whether they were launching satellites or sending people to the moon, we all remember sitting around in front of our television sets watching that controlled explosion slowly, slowly start to lift the rocket off of its pad. Minutes later, it’s someplace out in orbit, out in space.

This is a very good analogy of what’s required to create personal momentum in your life. If you think about that analogy of a rocket, what you will realize is that with the rocket, all of the effort is up front, in the beginning. In fact, I believe that 80 percent of a rocket’s fuel is burned in the first ten minutes.

Think about that. Many of us come up with great ideas, and we envision great things that we want to accomplish, and exciting places we want to go. The minute we create it in our minds, that idea is in fact a real thing! Thoughts are things! Remember, that anything that is to ever become a real thing created by man has to start there. Whether someone thinks "I’m going to build the Taj Mahal," or "I'm going to build the Hoover Dam," or "I'm going to build a rocket that will take a man to the moon," or "I’m going to have my own business," or "I’m going to start a school," or "I’m going to start a church," or "I’m going to write a book," it all starts at exactly the same place.

The difference between those thoughts that become reality and those that do not, is simply their creators had a reason that drove them to find a way to create massive action. You know, if you follow that rocket analogy, there’s a point in time when that rocket leaves the orbit that it takes very little effort to move it at the same speed in the same direction, and it takes very little effort to keep it on track.

Most people, view successful people at that stage of their development. They overlook the blast off stage. They overlook the time of intense, immediate and massive action! And that, in fact, is when their reality was born.

So, the countdown is on my friends:

3… What are you going to do about it? What in your life do you want bad enough to make something happen?

2… To what are you really willing to commit? Are you truly willing to commit to it, to write it down on paper, to bring coaches in your life?

1… Are you willing to take a chance up front to make it happen? To be your own controlled explosion?

Blast off! And, expect success!
