Helping Yourself with Herbal Magic By Nita Hickok (c)2003 Helping yourself is a difficult thing to do at times. The things we think we want in life are not always good for us. Our inner-self knows this and sometimes works against us, for our own good, to protect us from bad choices. No matter how hard we try, we often wonder why we fail to make much sought after life changes come true. But we all have to overcome obstacles and barriers to gain necessary life experience. To make beneficial life changes, we have to look at ourselves honestly and get to know ourselves and our true needs. Then we must open ourselves to the right opportunities that life presents us with, things that might help us to enjoy our lives and learn more from it. Self-knowledge and intuition must be used to differentiate between good and bad, between productive and destructive life opportunities. There have been many moments in life where I wish I had known myself better, so I could have made better decisions. But the past, present and future coexist in a spiritual sense; not to mention quantum physics proving this mathematically. To help myself, I now make it a daily practice to send positive energy with the solutions I have found to my past self. This sounds a bit like time travel but it is really very simple. I meditate and visualize myself when I was upset or in the middle of a life problem. I send calming energy, simple emotions and inspirations to show the solution. Anyone can do this. Another powerful way to grow in life is to let go of past problems and bad decisions. You hold yourself back in life when you hate, resent or want to get even with people for harming you. Doing this traps you in a cycle where you are forced to deal with the same problems over and over, until the lessons contained within them are learned. Letting them go does not mean that you must forget events or forget whatever you learned from them. It simply means you should take all the negative energy out of it by consigning it to the past and letting it go. People who judge everyone else but themselves can also get trapped into repetitive cycles of the same old problems. The only person you have the right to judge and the power to control in this life is yourself. You are supposed to be working on yourself to become a better person. One of the best ways to do this is to ask -"How would I feel if this was said or done to me." If you don't like the answer then don't say or do it. Unfortunately, in our modern fast-paced world, taking control over your life often involves learning how to control the behavior of other people, so we do not get ground into the dust by them. But a wise person does not deliberately make other people feel bad by judging them or being cruel to them. There are more spiritual ways of taking control over ones life. Protective and positive magic (White Magic) works best when we allow ourselves to go with the flow of the energies that are at work in and around our lives. The best life choices are made when we pick the best mental paths to follow based on wisdom and intuition. Positive, unselfish choices based on love and compassion brings about the best long-term results. White Magic is the ability to work and share your inner self with others. It makes you so all your powers are received from your conduit with God or the All. White Magic is always doing what is best for the group not the Individual. Black Magic is when the person doing the magic cares only about themselves. They are willing to disregard and ignore any harm that might occur to anyone else to get what they want in life. It is the road of personal power and selfishness. Every decision we have ever made, and all the things that we want to have and want to be, flow through our life energy every day. Our wants and needs are a big part of us. We change our life energy patterns when we do positive magic and try to overcome all the negative things we have done and are doing in our lives. Who doesn't want a happy, rewarding life? We can overcome all of the hexes, curses and the bad things that have happened to us only when we make the proper decisions. Recognizing the effects our decisions and actions have upon our lives is a true milestone of spiritual development. Using this knowledge and applying it to reshape our lives is spiritual development in action. Following are some simple spells that anyone can do to help themselves. To Remove Obstacles Write down all of the areas where you feel held back in life. When you are done, sprinkle the paper with powdered Cloves and Cinnamon. Burn the paper and visualize your obstacles dissolving. To Release Anger Make a herb tea of Epazote or Agrimony. Strain the herbs and use the tea in the shower as a rinse. Pray to be released from all your anger and hatred. Pour it over yourself and then shower as usual. The tea can also be used as a hand-wash, to wash away anger and frustration and remove you from bad situations. I use both these methods to help myself. Years ago, a family member treated me very unfairly and I became angry and bitter. I could not let go of the negative emotions this produced in me. I did both of these methods and all my bad feelings just faded away. My life immediately became easier and smoother. People often find it difficult to forgive themselves for making mistakes, even if it was not their fault. Some people torment themselves endlessly over the simplest of honest mistakes. Following is a simple method for forgiving yourself and asking forgiveness of God. To Ask Forgiveness Use Bergamot soap or body wash in the shower. While you are washing, pray and ask God for forgiveness. Herbs and incense are simple to use and have many uses. They are used in every major religion. Myrrh is a gum from a tree, and this is used as incense in churches. Rosewater symbolizes purity and good fortune. The subconscious needs some of these scents and smells to realize what we want to do. It cannot help us, and it might even work against us, if it does not know this. Smells evoke mental images that affect and change our life energy fields. Herbs and scents can be said to attract the attention of your inner self, by creating mental images in both your conscious and subconscious mind. Aromatherapy is an example of using scents to bring about beneficial changes in people. Certain herbs and teas also help with life problems. Whether these are used as a rinse or ingested, they help change our life energies (our vibrations) in beneficial ways. You can see the effects when you think about the perfumes and air fresheners used today. Herbs have a long list of purposes. They can be protective or have medicinal qualities. They can also help us in our daily lives by changing atmospheres and moods. Herbs and scents change the vibrations of houses where they are grown or used in. They also taste great in cooking. One of my favorite herbs is Rosemary. Rosemary provides protection against psychic attack, and clears negative influences from your life. Many years ago, I was having a really tough time in my life and had to move into a new apartment. The entire front of the apartment had Rosemary as a ground cover. I enjoyed the smell and the purple flowers. My life changed after I moved in. It was a place full of happy memories and I was sorry when I had to move away. It is really quite amazing how something as simple and pretty as Rosemary can help overcome serious life problems.
