Nightmare

How does one stop the demons?
from completely driving you insane
Can I get inside my head,
just one day to stop the pain

Day in, day out, nothing ever changes,
when is going to stop
The ladder keeps on breaking,
every time I get close to the top

The great abyss within my soul,
grows darker as each moment passes on
I sit huddled in my corner,
why has life for me gone so wrong

Each step I take gets harder,
there is no push just pull
And if despair could fill my stomach,
I would be completely full

But then a ray of sunshine,
glimmers through the window curtain
And now I am awake,
of this I am very certain

The nightmare has come to an end,
and I slowly dry off the sweat
For what I left behind yesterday,
I definitely have no regret

Whether it be a dream or a nightmare,
we must never let go of the past
Because if we forget just one moment,
the future could never last.
