Shadow Boxing You know, on many occasions, we are fortunate enough to have great things enter our lives, be it a great idea, a great event, a great person, or a great opportunity. And what I’d like to take a couple of minutes to review what happens, or what has the potential to happen when these great things occur. You know, many times we think about an idea; we represent that graphically with a light bulb. And I think that’s a fairly accurate representation. So, let’s imagine this, what happens when you introduce a very light, bright light bulb into an environment; into a room? Well, a couple of things happen. One is, it might allow you to see some of the details in your surroundings that you didn’t notice before, but it also creates, if you look around, shadows. In many cases, these shadows are created by objects that are pretty small, but the shadows that they create, if the light is bright enough, are pretty big very imposing. You can easily see how somebody, not knowing that the shadow is harmless, might think that shadow is dangerous and might be fearful of it. You know, a lot of times, this is how fear enters our lives when we’re presented, sometimes, with great opportunity. We are limited by F.E.A.R False Evidence Appearing Real, just like a shadow. A shadow is not a harmful thing, in fact, is not a real touchable thing. It is just an image cast by the introduction of a great light into an environment. So let’s think about that. Many times when these great lights appear in people’s lives, be they great people or great ideas or great opportunity, what happens is people find themselves giving more of their focus, more of their attention on the shadows that are created, than what the light now allows you to see. So, I ask you, you know, how often do we find ourselves, how many of the problems in your life, how many of the challenges, how many of the challenging people, how many of the obstacles or hurdles between you and your goal are actually shadows, obstacles not as big or imposing as they appear to be?. You know, a lot of people spend all of their time, all of their mental effort, all of their daily activity focusing on the shadow, fighting the shadow. You know, shadow boxing! They box themselves into a corner of fear and mediocrity. Join me for as I share and review ideas on personal power. Ideas taught by some of the greatest teachers of our time.
