Top Kitchen Appliances For Your Home

By: Rajunah

There are a number of great appliances people can add to their kitchen that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also work to add value to the overall home. One such kitchen appliance is the standard refrigerator/freezer combination. To use the adjective ‘standard’ however, is a bit of an understatement. Whereas one can still find the typical style fridges in most appliance and home improvement stores, there have been a number of innovations made in what these refrigerators can do. There are also a variety of them such as fridge freezers and chest freezers, but for this article, the focus will be on those that are best suited for the kitchen.

Kitchen refrigerator/freezer combinations come in a wide variety and styles. Today’s current trends have those of the stainless steel variety at the top of the heap when it comes to overall popularity. These set-ups can also come in a number of different models designed for utility or personal preference. Depending on what one may need them for will help determine the style which is right for them.

For instance, if someone is looking for a refrigerator/freezer with everyday use in mind, and is not the type to buy oversized items such as jumbo pizzas or larger sheet cakes, a standard top and bottom fridge may be the way to go. These are designed in different styles where some feature the freezer above the fridge, and others with the freezer below the fridge. On those where the freezer is on the bottom, the freezer itself may be either a door or a pull out drawer. These are standard styles and are still utilized frequently.

Another style is the side-by-side model. These models also offer similar storage space, but have one half to two thirds of the space set up as a refrigerator, next to the remainder of the fridge set up as a freezer. These are great for narrower kitchen spaced because the doors to not open as far into the room. The down side is because the sections are split down the middle of the unit, there isn’t as much storage space for wider items. This might be a deterrent for some.

The last and latest model on the market today has the freezer again below the fridge, but the fridge is accessible by a set of French-style drawers. This model brings together the best of both worlds. The doors don’t open as far into the room, so it is great for narrow spaces, and because the upper part of the unit is the entire fridge, storing wider and larger items is quite easily done.

There are a number of options out there today for one to choose from, so once it is determined what the individual’s exact needs may be, the choice should be much simpler to make.
