Use Wall Filler To Cover Holes In The Walls

Christmas would lose all its sparkle without the decorations. The entire family got together, the kids helped you put the decorations up, you had a lovely Christmas but now it’s the twelfth night and it is time to take the decorations down which will reveal an ugly truth.

More often than not, pulling those decorations down will pull your plaster and ruin your wallpaper. Those small holes and cracks are soon going to start growing which could be costly if you call a professional out or you can buy some wall filler and fix your walls yourself.

There is a wide variety of wall fillers available in the market ranging from ones required to fill bigger holes to ones used to fill small cracks. From multi purpose smooth finish wall fillers to hairline crack smooth finish fillers, you have many choices. Some wall fillers dry out within 5 minutes and some may take up to a couple hours. There are even wall fillers you can get which are specifically designed for moisture prone conditions or fillers that can be used around door frames and skirting boards.

Wall fillers are available pre mixed or powdered. Application of wall fillers is extremely easy and will only take a few minutes.

Start by gently cleaning the hole or crack in the wall.

Use a filling knife to take the filler out. Most wall fillers come with a filling knife.

Apply the filler to the hole or crack.

Remove the excess filler with the filling knife and with a damp cloth wipe the excess filler.

One point to be kept into consideration with using wall filler is that it dries out quickly, So use the filler quickly and efficiently. If you make a mistake with the filler, it can be plucked out of the hole to be re-filled.

Once the holes or cracks in your wall are filled, the wall filler will provide your walls long term protection. Fear of ruining your walls should not keep you away from decorating your house this Christmas.
