Why you should buy a used car

By: Car Enthusiast

There are people who are well-off or rich enough to buy a new car or vehicle; however, there are also people who prefer to buy used vehicles or cars because buying a new car is a major expense that people cannot afford in the current economic times.

Money is the only reason why a lot of people choose to buy a used vehicle over a new one. Those people who patronise used cars are the practical ones; most of them are not interested in the brand, as long as the car serves its purpose, they are happy. They just want a convenient and comfortable means for transport anytime rather than using public transport to commute everyday.

Furthermore, some people consider buying a new and expensive car as an unreasonable choice; they believe that used cars are very cost effective, reliable, and safe, just like new cars.

To help you decide, here are the reasons why you must buy a slightly used vehicle

1) The price of used cars is low and very reasonable
It is a fact that the value of a car depreciates almost every year, so people find it impractical to buy a new vehicle where in fact there are a lot of used cars that are being sold at a very reasonable price. Practically speaking, used cars are good and ideal for low income earners, the price is cheap but the quality is still excellent.

2) Slightly used cars are still in good shape.
Because you are purchasing a used car, it does not mean that the car is already worn out and in bad shape. These cars are slightly used, there might be some damage but usually it is something that can be repaired. Just be sure that you run a background check before buying one.

3) You can haggle to get a reasonable price.
Since you are buying a used car, you can still haggle or ask for discount but make sure that the price is still reasonable. This tactic works sometimes but not every time, you can always give it a try. Asking for a discount is also a great way to save extra money.

Other benefits include the following: lower depreciation, lower financing costs, lower registration fees, lower license fees, lower insurance premiums, no sales tax and you can still enjoy a limited warranty program from the manufacturer of the vehicle.

Bear in mind that, when purchasing a used vehicle, you must be well informed about the vehicle. You should thoroughly inspect or check the vehicle’s history, terms and conditions involved, as well as maintenance records. If you do not run these checks, you may encounter problems in the future.

Buying or purchasing a car, whether brand new or slightly used, entails a large commitment because you will use and keep your vehicle for many years. Also remember that, buying a car is a form investment, in the same way like buying a home.
