  • Immigrants Must Learn English and Become Americans
    Immigrants have to be shown how important it is to learn English and how much they will benefit when they do. Our government should make sure that all immigrants learn English, the benefits to them and the country will more than make up for the cost involved. Their success adds to our success and everyone who lives here benefits when immigrants succeed.
  • Would Illegal Immigrants Register for Guest Worker Visas?
    Our government wants all illegal immigrants who are in this country to register for temporary guest worker visas. These people have to be assured that they will benefit from this and not be hurt, before they would consider registering.
  • Assimilation or Multi-culturalism: That is the Question
    Assimilation isn't working very well now and neither is multi-culturalism. But parts of each do, what we need is a combination of the two. Immigrants have to learn English and our laws and their rights and feel that they are a part of this country. We need more Americans here, not immigrants who feel they are visitors.
  • Should We Worry About Immigrant Assimilation and Education?
    Many of tomorrow's workers and business owners are the children of today's immigrants. Since immigration WILL continue, they are important to our future growth. We should try to assimilate them into our education system now so they can add to our country when they are adults.

    When everyone in a country speaks the same language, the country is stronger and much more united. People cannot understand the culture, laws or their rights and responsibilities if they don't speak the language. They can keep their own culture and also learn English.

    The United States was built by immigrants. When we think of Americans, we picture a combination of all the other countries. When immigrants succeed, we all benefit, many people don't think about all the ways their success helps the rest of us.
  • What Would We Do if All the Illegal Immigrants Left?
    Illegal immigrants fill many jobs that legal residents don't want. These jobs are
    necessary to keep this economy going and we won't be happy if these workers all
    suddenly left. Immigration reform of some type is needed rather than just deporting
    all these workers.
